The ZenFone 3 Zoom has been unveiled by Asus as the successor to their previous product, the ZenFone Zoom, retaining its key feature - a camera that has an optical zoom. A unique phone from Asus, an upgrade of its predecessor with many other features to give its user that wonderful experience.

The design of this phone is similar to that of the iPhone7 Plus. In fact, when you remove its fingerprint sensor behind it and replace it with the logo of Apple, you have a juicy lawsuit waiting. A nice and curvy metallic body it possesses gives it an attractive look and makes it comfortable to hold, if a unique phone is your desire, then this is the right phone for you.

Below are some of its specs:

1. Camera

Unlike the ZenFone Zoom that was made with a bulky and large optical lens attached to its back, the ZenFone 3 Zoom has been designed to have a dual camera setup. Having two cameras of 12MP and an aperture of/1.7 at the back, its primary lens has a focal length of 25mm while the secondary sensor has a focal length of 59mm and an optical zoom of 2.3x. Although it can go up to 12x zoom, anything above 2.3x will make the image digital. These camera features have made it similar to what the iPhone 7 Plus has. This is an upgrade to the Asus ZenFone C which has a 5MP camera and f/2.0 aperture.

Asus was able to come up with a new technology called TriTech+ on Autofocusing. The camera setup combines a total of three technologies which include subject tracking, dual phase detection autofocus and a laser autofocus system making it have very fast focusing speed of 0.03seconds. Its front camera is 13MP and has a f/2.0 aperture which is capable of capturing all your selfies.

2. Design

Having an aluminum-alloy body, the ZenFone 3 Zoom has a thickness of 7.9mm (0.31") with a weight of 170g (0.37 Ibs).  This phone has been termed as one of the lightest and slimmest phones so far despite housing a 5,000mAh battery. The full design very attractive with its full aluminum-alloy body with its new camera when you compare it to the previous edition.

3. Display and Performance

The ZenFone 3 Zoom has a screen display of 5.5" FHD AMOLED and a Gorilla Glass 5. Also, it has a capacitive touchscreen, the pixel resolution of 1080x1920 and ZenUI 3.0 skin. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor of 2 GHz and has 2GB, 3GB and 4GB RAM size making it an Octa-core processor making it run smoothly when several applications are opened and used together. Also, it has a graphics processor in it and internal storage of 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB expandable up to 2 TB using a microSD card.

4. OS and other Specs

This unique phone runs on an Android 6.0 Marshmellow OS although it is not clear if it could be updated yet. It has several connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wifi, HotSpot, GPS and also operates as a dual SIM phone. Its specs are just similar to the previous Asus ZenFone specs, if not better.

Pros:

·         It has a slick style

·         Very good camera specs

·         A battery that is massive

Cons:

·         ZenUI can be intrusive

·         No price attached yet

This latest addition to the ZenFone Family will certainly get so much attention. The ZenFone 3 Zoom not only meets camera needs but also has a very good battery life. The price is not yet clear since it is just about being launched a few weeks away from now. Whatever the case, the ZenFone 3 Zoom would definitely be a commercial success for Asus.

If the ZenFone 3 Zoom is as good as its spec have been listed along with a good price, then it ought to be a good buy. For the meantime, we will wait for its launching.

The ZenFone 3 Zoom not only meets camera needs but also has a very good battery life.
